One Reason Not To Own A Decommissioned Nuclear Missile Site--The Add-Ons

"Can I get a helicopter?" That has been the question from Rick's mouth for the last few weeks as he peruses eBay. (He used to ask if he could buy an airplane.) It's a running joke between us. He asks and I curtly say, "No." Sometimes he asks several times a day. To most big boys, owning either air transport vehicle would be a "when we win the lottery" dream. However, my husband is an expert debater and I can see his logic wheels turning. "But honey, why not? We already have the runway for a plane and a pad for the helicopter?" What can a wife say?

The picture I have in the "About Me" section on the right rail of this blog is actually a picture of the patch worn by the crew members of the 578th SMS who manned the twelve Atlas-F Launch Facilities around Abilene. The inscription of "Pax per potestatem" is Latin for "Peace through strength."

First Post

I decided to start a blog as a way to keep those far and dear up to date on our family's events. I chose the name Corinth West as it was the name of the former Atlas-F Nuclear Missile Site that occupied our land in the 1960's. The site is still here and we are slowly renovating the LCC (Launch Control Center) into a home. If you are unfamiliar with Atlas-F Nuclear Missile Sites, the entire complex is underground. And after this spring's storms, I am thankful that I have a bomb-proof, not to mention a tornado-proof shelter to escape to when the hail, wind and rain come.

Just a warning, this blog is a work in progress and you will notice the layout changing on a regular basis. I used to design websites, so I can become obsessive in what looks and works best.
