Yesterday at 2 pm,
Eoin, the little 2 year old boy about whom I posted the other day and in the past, passed away. My heart and prayers go out to his family in this time of letting go of a precious child.
Rick left for New Jersey on Tuesday and yesterday he had an excruciating tooth ache. There is a dentist across from the client site, so Rick popped in there. The dentist had to extract one tooth and began a root canal on another. Because Rick will be in Jersey for the next four weeks, coming home on the weekends, the dentist will do an implant and a few other things in Rick's now pain-free mouth. Rick really likes the dentist, which is saying a lot about the doctor; however, on the down side, his dentist is now located in Jersey City.
Yesterday Katie and I motored over to the
Wal-Mart in Stamford and I finally purchased paint for the dining room. When it comes to any type of decorating I mull over my options for weeks, sometimes months. I have been picking up paint cards from
Wal-Mart every time that I go into the store and finally confirmed my choice of Victorian Garnet--burgundy--for the dining room walls. I have read horror stories online about painting walls red, such as streaks, blotches and a pinkish tone. I have experienced none of these. I need to add one more coat today and hope to be finished. I really like how it looks. It makes the dining room feel regal, warm and darker. Our dining room only has two walls because one side is open to the living room and another side is separated from the kitchen by the breakfast bar. I think if our dining room was a true enclosed room, the color would be too dark. I hope Rick likes it, if not
HE will have a hard time covering the Victorian Garnet! I also might have found a paint color for the kitchen. I actually took one of the window toppers into
Wal-Mart with me to match a beige strip in the window treatment. I got tired of bringing paint cards home only to discover the colors were not quite right.
Katie was a MONSTER yesterday. When I attempted to put her down for a nap, she got out of her crib at least fifteen times. I gave up and put her in her play pen without any toys as a sort of a punishment. She escaped from that also. I think my mother-in-law is correct when she says that it is all a game to Katie. Rick and I have decided to baby gate her in her bedroom. If she gets out of her crib, she will be contained in her room. Rick also thinks we need to unscrew the ceiling fixture's light bulb. When she gets out of her crib, the first thing she does is turn on the light. Without light, she won't be able to play and perhaps will be less likely to exit her crib. We'll see how it works. In addition to her escapes, she was just rotten. She was throwing stuff, swung a towel at me, and refused to listen to "No!". Please Lord, give me the strength to get through today and please give Katie the wisdom not to act out again.
So they was a lot of letting go yesterday. One was extremely painful to do, one meant removing pain and one meant letting go of traditional, painted walls and going for the daring.
