Last week while talking to Rick on the phone, I advised him that Katie knew how to operate the DVD player. She turns the player on and uses the button to open and close the drawer where the DVD sits. When handling the DVDs, she carefully holds the discs by their edges. We have never out and out taught her how to do all of this; she learned from watching us. One part of operating the DVD player that I didn't think that she noticed was the fact that you have to unplug the Dish's RCA cable from TV's front jacks and then plug in the DVDs RCA cable into those jacks. (It's an older TV that only has one set of jacks.) Anyway the cable is split in three--video, left audio and right audio--and each plug and jack is a different color--red, white and yellow.
Silly Momma, I so often underestimate her intelligence. Today she wanted to watch Dora and to my amazement she correctly disconnected the Dish's cable from the TV and plugged in the DVD's cable. The yellow plug was in the yellow jack, the red was in the red and the white was in the white. So it's official, my 2-year-10 month-old daughter is more adept at hooking up a DVD player than my parents.
